Best Sticky Buns Ever

Best Sticky Buns EVER

This morning we decided to head into the village of Alma. We had heard about their incredible sticky buns and some of the other local sites. The tide was fairly low when we first arrived and many of the ships in the docks were sitting on the bottom in the mud.

We wandered into a couple of shops and eventually found our way to the shop advertising the best sticky buns ever at Kelly’s bakery. They were not lying. They really were simply delicious. Our plan is to eat there sticky buns every morning for breakfast while we are here. The fact that they were warm when we receive them didn’t hurt either.

As we wondered about and looked at the shops and the boats we were pleasantly surprised to discover the emergency escape pods on top of many of the shipping vessels. We really didn’t know much about them but presumed they were essentially a floating raft that could bob in the ocean as an enclosed capsule.

I enjoyed Alma and the sense of humour that I discovered in several signs throughout the village. I particularly enjoyed the signs that were used on the bathroom doors at a local craft brewery.

There was no male or female sign on the bathroom doors. There was simply a picture of what was available behind each door. People could then pick the door that they wished to use. I love this idea!

We made our way back to the camp in the afternoon. Our plan had been to go for a swim at the pool and then meet our friend Zorra for dinner at our camp. She lives about two hours away but was willing to drive and visit with us. Unfortunately, the pool was closed due to a fouling. On the positive side, Doug and I did go for a short walk and check out the views that Emma and I had seen the previous day. When Emma and I went it had been low tide. When Doug and I went it was high tide. I think these photos together are amazing.

We had a lovely evening visiting with Zorra. And Emma once again, did a great job making dinner. We enjoyed a campfire and good conversation before it was time for her to make her return trip home. We hope to be able to see her again as we pass through her town going to Nova Scotia and on our way home at the end of the trip.
